About Yamunotri Dham
Situated at an altitude of 3,293 meters, the Yamunotri Temple was built by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal. It is surrounded by peaks and valleys, creating a spiritual ambiance.
Yamunotri is also known for: Surya Kund – A hot water spring where devotees cook rice and potatoes as an offering. Divya Shila – A rock pillar near the temple, worshipped before entering.
Yamunotri Dham is one of the pilgrimage sites in India and part of the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand. It is the origin of the Yamuna River, considered the sister of Yama, the God of Death.
